Historical Embroidery News...

Silken give-away

5/6/2018

I am beavering away on writing the texts for my upcoming ebook on the linen vestments from Tyrol. The good news is: my sampler is finally finished! And that's where I need your help. I am planning on releasing kits to go with the ebook. After all, you might want to try your hand at one of these gorgeous flowers too. So for today's giveaway, I'd like to know which of the flowers on my sampler you like best. Leave your answer in a comment on this blog post (comments left on other blog posts or via email or any other way, do not count). The winner will get the new ebook and the kit of her/his choice upon release. I will randomly pick one winner on Monday the 11th of June 2018. You must leave your comment before Sunday the 10th of June 24:00h CET.

And here are the flowers you can choose from: Carnation, Viola, Tudor Rose, Tulip, Wild Rose, Tiger Lily, Campanula and Peony.

Thanks for your help! And I'll keep writing :).

Hoi Jessica, alle bloemen zijn erg mooi. Voor mij was het moeilijk k u een tussen viooltje, anjer of klokje. Maar ik kies voor de sierlijke anjer. Mooie ontwerpen !

Coming from England, and the white rose county Yorkshire, it has to be the Tudor Rose! Thanks for this opportunity.

Hoi Jessica, mooie sampler heb je ontworpen! De bloem die mij het meest aanspreekt is het viooltje......eetbaar, heerlijk geurend en mooi om te zien.

They are so lovely! I could imagine them all on black silk. What silk thread do you use for them? It looks like not twisted one? Is it House of Embroidery silk? Do you have it in your shop?

And about the flowers: I like campanula, lily and carnation. And I am not able to pick only one of them (but I have one idea what to decorate with them all :D ).

Reply

5/6/2018 17:33:43

Thank you Agne! No I don't have this type of silk in my shop. The reason being that it is available in 1000s of shades and just far too hard to photograph right and get shade consitency between batches. There will be a link to the source in my ebook. The good news is: it is realytively cheap!
