Petite Needlepoint Embroidery Kit: Spring is in the Air
During my training at the Royal School of Needlework, I fell in love with canvaswork or needlepoint as it is also called. The technique is relatively unknown in Continental Europe. Most people there associate it with the boldly coloured simple designs their grandmothers worked in simple tent stitch on huge stiff canvasses and turned into cushions. That's why I came up with what I call 'petite needlepoint'. Instead of using a cumbersome stiff canvas, my designs are worked on 40 ct linen. This way you can still enjoy working all the fun geometric stitches with beautiful speciality threads but on a much finer scale. I am sure you will love the technique and the high-end materials in this kit!
These adorable sheep are made up of French knots and the hills use several common needlepoint stitches. The beautiful hand-dyed variegated raw silk embroidery threads made by House of Embroidery ensure that each finished piece will be truly unique. The design also uses chain stitch, beaded flowers and simple beading. The finished design measures c. 8,5 x 8,5 cm.
The PDF instructions with many clear pictures and stitch diagrams come in either English, Deutsch or Nederlands. I will email those to you during business hours. A kit with all materials (House of Embroidery hand-dyed threads, beads, fabric and needles) will be shipped to you as soon as possible. It is recommended to work this design in an embroidery hoop or on a frame. The adorable sheep are part of a series of four designs: a Summer Sunflower, an Autumn Pumpkin and a Winter Snowman. Collect them all and frame them together for a stylish piece of stitched art!
